Our skin is not only one of the most essential organs we have, it’s our body’s largest. Of course, it’s also one of the body’s only visible organs. It’s because of this, that we’re always trying to keep it looking young, fresh and healthy.
When we’re young, our skin is toned, elastic and smooth. As we grow older, the skin inevitably changes, often showing blemishes associated with age, creases and a general “tired” look. While there are a multitude of surgical options available, some women look to achieve an enhanced appearance through less-invasive means. Thankfully, there are treatments available.
Non-Surgical Treatments
Those who are experiencing the natural blemishes and creases that come with age often turn to non-surgical treatments to bring them a bit closer to the skin they always wanted.
Two types of skin treatments we offer:
- Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion or “microderm” is primarily used to smooth the skin, soften fine lines and combat the appearance of sun damage. During the procedure, a gentle stream of particles is introduced to the skin, which essentially scrapes away the damaged, surface layer of skin. The procedure typically takes around 30 minutes and doesn’t require any anesthesia.
- Botox and fillers: Botox is an injectable treatment that is essentially a muscle relaxer. It works to prevent creases in the skin and is used most often on the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet. This treatment is used primarily on creases that appear intermittently, such as “smile lines.” Fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, work by essentially filling the spaces of creases to achieve a firmer, more youthful appearance. These treatments are typically used for deeper creases that appear more persistently. Often, Restylane can also be used to plump lips that appear thin or flat.
