A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure used to enhance the appearance of breasts that have sagged or lost firmness. Drooping breasts are a natural part of the aging process, and this problem can be further exacerbated by pregnancy, breastfeeding and significant weight loss. For many women, these changes are unwelcome and can cause a great deal of distress. Thankfully, however, there are treatment options available. One of these options is the lollipop lift, an advanced breast lift technique. Continue reading to learn more about this cutting-edge procedure.
The Lollipop Breast Lift
What sets different breast lift procedures apart is essentially the shape of the incision. For women with small breasts or minimal sagging, a donut-shaped incision around the areola may be sufficient. For many women, however, the lollipop lift is the better answer. The procedure borrows its name from the incision pattern, with one incision around the newly positioned areola and the other appearing as a vertical line under the areola.
There are two main advantages to the lollipop breast lift:
- Combats severe droop: The lollipop procedure is conducted in such a way that cases of severe breast droop (ptosis) can often be dealt with. The same cannot be said for procedures such as the “crescent” breast lift.
- Less scarring: Another advantage of the lollipop lift is the absence of anchor-shaped scars. This type of horizontal scarring is common with a full-pattern breast lift.
Before any breast procedure, we will sit down to discuss your surgery goals and whether or not you’re a candidate for a procedure like a lollipop lift. While this may not be the right procedure for everyone, for many women it can mean the difference between the body they have and the body they’ve always wanted.
