The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) is reporting on one woman’s account to Oprah.com, in which she describes her long relationship with plastic surgery. The woman, a 55 year-old CEO who remains anonymous, seems somewhat conflicted with her plastic surgery past. Still, the ASAPS article reports that “her improved looks…make her feel less vulnerable.”
The CEO admits to undergoing a myriad of cosmetic treatments, including two nose jobs, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck among others. Some would, of course, argue that this much cosmetic work is excessive. Opinions aside, the CEO seems to be satisfied with her results and the positive way these procedures have impacted her life and career.
Can Plastic Surgery Change Your Life?
This report asks some interesting questions about the effects of cosmetic surgery and its power to change one’s life for the better. Each year, thousands of women seek out cosmetic enhancement as a means of increasing self-esteem and boosting their confidence. So, what are the top cosmetic procedures among women?
Here are just a few of the most popular cosmetic procedures among women in America:
- Breast augmentation: Breast Augmentation is the most common plastic surgery procedure performed on women. For those who feel their breasts are too small, breast augmentation can often be the answer. During the procedure, implants are placed under the breast tissue or under the muscle of the chest wall. For many women, these fuller, shapelier breasts can often mean more confidence.
- Eyelid lift: An Eyelid Lift—also known as Blepharoplasty—is a cosmetic surgery used to combat the drooping and sagging of eyelids that occurs with age. During the procedure, excess fat, skin and muscle are removed from the upper and lower eyelids. Often, the result is a fresher, more youthful appearance.
- Botox: Essentially, Botox is muscle relaxer. This injectable treatment works to prevent creases in the skin and is used most often on the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet. Botox works best on creases that appear intermittently, such as “smile lines.”
