According to the report, a number of websites are selling products claiming to be Botox and other cosmetic products. Apparently, several YouTube clips are even offering instructions on how to self inject. In response to this terrifying news, NBC spoke with a Dr. Richard Glogau, quoting him as saying “Bad Botox can give you bad cosmetic effect, all the way up to paralysis, inability to breathe and death.”
ABC News also reported on the dangers of DIY cosmetic procedures a while back. This report sought the opinion of dermatologist, Dr. Joel Cohen. According to ABC, Cohen believes that, “DIY cosmetic procedures are a terrible way to save money, and only skilled professionals can administer the injections safely.” It seems appropriate to quote an old adage here—if something seems too good to be true, it probably is!
