Many patients of all ages rejuvenate and improve their appearance with dermal fillers. With so many types of fillers to choose from, it can be difficult to determine which one will work best for a specific problem or skin type. Here is a guide to the benefits and advantages of some of the most common dermal fillers.
A Look At Popular Injectable Fillers
- BOTOX® Cosmetic: BOTOX is one of the most popular and sought-after cosmetic treatments in the industry. Many patients turn to this dermal filler to smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. Administered through a series of tiny injections, BOTOX can rejuvenate a person’s appearance by greatly reducing or eliminating crow’s feet, frown lines between the eye brows, as well as lines around the mouth, and across the forehead and neck. These treatments are performed quickly, and with little to no discomfort and no downtime. Patients can enjoy the results of BOTOX for up to six months.
- Dysport®: This injectable is made from the same bacterium as BOTOX, and can be used to treat the same areas of the face. There is anecdotal evidence that the effects of Dysport appear quicker and last longer than BOTOX. While Dysport treatment may last up to four months, certain areas that are regularly treated with this filler tend to show longer lasting results.
- Restylane®: Made from hyaluronic acid, which is produced naturally by the body, Restylane has the unique ability to match the skin, smoothing wrinkles and creating a fuller contour on the face. This filler can also be used to add shape and volume to the lips. The most common areas for Restylane treatment are the lines between the eye brows as well as the nasolabial folds (known as smile lines or laugh lines).
- JUVEDERM®: This filler is made of injectable gel, and is used to treat moderate to severe and folds wrinkles in the face. For most patients, results typically last for six to nine months. In some cases, results can be seen for as long as a year.
